Sarah Tonks

When did you start working in the travel industry?

I began my career in travel from the early age of 14 when I used to volunteer in a local travel agency to gain some work experience. After leaving school I joined a local agency and worked my way to branch manager. After a few years gap to have my two children I returned on a part time basis until 1999 when I returned full time. Although I have spent most of my career in different agencies I have had the opportunity to work for a few months with a leading cruise line.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

I am passionate about travel and hence I just love to go on holiday, as many times as I possibly can!

Where would you like to visit next?

I have booked to go to Thailand next year for two and a half weeks to do a bit of exploring. I am visiting Khao Lak, Elephant hills jungle safari, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Bangkok. Very excited!

What has been your favourite holiday, which you have booked for a customer, that you would love to take yourself?

I have booked an extensive itinerary for some customers that were travelling all over New Zealand with stopovers in Hong Kong, Fiji, Hawaii and San Francisco. I think I might have to wait a while for this one !

What is your dream holiday destination?

My dream holiday destination would be to do a safari in South Africa as I would love to see the big 5 in the wild!
